Air Temperature Sensors

The air temperature sensor is located in the air intake in the case of normally aspirated engines and after the turbo charger or any inter-cooler in forced induction engines. It is important that these sensors accurately and quickly measure any change in temperature.

These are continuous function units that report a change in resistance inverse to temperature, that is to say that as the temperature of the air increases, the resistance in the thermistor reduces thus allowing the engine ECU to calculate the temperature from pre-loaded data.
